Faith. Competition. Kingdom impact.
The Upstate Basketball League exists to honor God through competition, build character, and unite our communities on and off the court.
Mission & purpose
Provide smaller high school programs with structured competition, strong sportsmanship, and a meaningful championship experience rooted in faith.
Communication policy
Schedule changes, disputes, and league decisions move through each team’s designated representative and the commissioner.
Sportsmanship & discipline
Coaches, players, and spectators represent their programs and the league with respect. Discipline issues follow a documented league review process.
Eligibility policy
Each program confirms player eligibility before competition and addresses questions through league leadership before game day.
Cancellation policy
Weather and emergency cancellations are communicated promptly, with both programs working through league leadership to reschedule.
Referee expectations
Officials are supported through clear communication, consistent standards, and respectful conduct from every program.
Game status & score reporting
Final and forfeited regular-season games count in standings. Postponed and cancelled games remain visible but do not affect records; the provisional forfeit score is 1-0.
Standings tiebreakers
Teams are ordered by win percentage, head-to-head wins among tied teams, point differential, and then fewest points allowed. Team name is used only as a final display fallback.
Playoff advancement
Each division has its own five-team bracket. Seed 4 plays Seed 5, the winner advances to Seed 1, and Seed 2 plays Seed 3. Semifinal winners advance to the championship.
